APAF Award for Advancing Minority Mental Health – New York City

On May 7th, 2024, Hope Horizon was presented with the American Psychiatric Association Foundation’s (APAF) Award for Advancing Minority Mental Health at the APA’s Annual Convening in New York City. We were honored during the Diversity Leaders and Alumni Reception with this award, which recognizes community organizations that have undertaken innovative and supportive efforts to:

  • Raise awareness in underserved minority communities about mental illness including the need for early recognition, access to and the availability of treatment, and the cultural barriers to treatment.
  • Increase access to quality mental health services for underserved minorities.
  • Improve the quality of care for underserved minorities, particularly those in the public health system or with severe mental illness.

We are so proud of the work our team does every day in Tulare County! Thank you to the APAF for this recognition and for your contribution to our programs!

NOV. 2023: Thanksgiving Drive

Thank you to all who donated to our Thanksgiving Drive!

Special thanks to Garden Elementary School for donating over 1,000 food items.

We exceeded our goal of serving 60 families. We were able to provide bags of food, blankets, clothing, board games, and art kits to 60 of our Hope Horizon families; PLUS we were able to provide 24 additional bags of food to families of the Tulare City School District.

NOV. 2023: Thank you KSEE 24 for giving us the opportunity to be on Central Valley Today to share about our programs, name change, and our Thanksgiving Drive!

Please call (559) 688-2043 to schedule an appointment.

Please also check out the Donate page for more information about how you can donate to our Thanksgiving drive or other current needs!

OCT. 2023 – NAME CHANGE UPDATE:

We are officially Hope Horizon Mental Health!

Our agency has a legacy of serving Tulare County since 1971 as Tulare Youth Service Bureau (TYSB) – but we felt it was time to change our name. We are not only in the City of Tulare, we don’t only serve youth, and “services bureau” seemed so vague and formal. We are excited to introduce ourselves as Hope Horizon Mental Health (HHMH) – an agency whose mission is to provide hope and healing through mental health services to children, adults, and families.

Thank you to the Tulare Chamber of Commerce for hosting our Ribbon Cutting event in October 2023 to officially unveil our new name and to celebrate the expansion of our building. Thank you to all those who came to celebrate with us and who stayed to attend our Open House! We had tours, resource tables, refreshments, and a great time of discussion and networking. We are excited to continue to serve this community and to find new ways to grow and meet the needs of children and families throughout Tulare County.
